About Me

I was raised by a single dad who formerly worked as a general contractor. As a result, the smell of sawdust reminds me of childhood and I can remember being pushed through aisles of Home Depot on the lumber carts. While I didn’t necessarily inherit my dad’s love for hammers and nails, I love the idea of transforming plywood and drywall into a place where people feel welcome, encouraged, and inspired.

In 2007, I was blessed to marry my wonderful husband Zach who, among many things, values frugal living and sweat equity. He has taught me the meaning of a good deal and has shown me new ways to find what I’m looking for without overspending. We are both middle school teachers, which means we love spending summers (and weekends, and anytime) embarking on new projects. We are currently on our second “fixer upper” of a home and are enjoying the learning process and creative outlet that this new endeavor provides.

Lately, I’ve been inspired by Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” If I am made in the image of the Creator, then maybe He is allowing me to experience His joy through my meager creative efforts.

After following so many of the incredible home design blogs out there, I’ve decided to start my own space where I can chronicle our own adventures in renovation, share craft ideas, and highlight others’ designs that I find particularly inspiring. Enjoy!
